About Psychotherapy.net

DVDs/Videos

I live in England (or Taiwan, or Timbuktu).  Will your DVDs play on my DVD player?

Our DVDs will play on 99% of the DVD players around the world.  They are not country coded.  Very rarely there is a compatibility problem on older DVD players; if so we recommend that you first try playing them on another player, or on your computer before contacting us.

The only DVD we sell that is country-coded is When Nietzsche Wept. You will need a U.S. DVD player, multi-country coded player, or a computer with a DVD player installed to watch this DVD.

My DVD won’t play in my player. What do I do?

First try playing it in a different DVD player, making sure the power is on. If it still does not work, contact us at and we’ll ship you out a new one. Keep the case because we’ll just send you the DVD.

This video is not what I expected, and I don’t want it. Can I get a refund?

We are committed to only selling the highest quality educational videos in the field. Of course, if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase within 30 days of receiving it, we will refund you 100% of the purchase cost—including the shipping costs in your original order!  You just pay the postage to return the goods to us. Just write to us at and give us your beef. You may also be interested to read our complete return policy.

I did not find what I was looking for. How often do you add new titles to your list of videos for sale?

We are always in the process of updating our catalogue of videos and making the best psychotherapy videos out there available to you. You can help us with this. If you don’t see something you would like to see, if you have a suggestion, or if you know of a video title that you would like to be available on the site, please contact us at .

What is the difference between the Individual vs. Institutional/Instructor’s Versions of the DVDs?

The Individual Version is licensed for individual mental health professionals who are going to watch the DVD privately from home. The Institutional/Instructor’s Version is for those ordering from universities, colleges, clinics and any institution; it is licensed for group viewing. Most Institutional/Instructor’s Versions come with a training manual that includes discussion questions, tips for watching, and a complete transcript. Please read our full description of the two versions.

What if I buy the Individual Version and then decide I want to show it to my Intern Group/class?

You may upgrade the DVD from Individual to Institutional/Instructor’s Version by emailing us at or by giving us a call at (415) 752-2235. You will only be charged the difference between the two versions, not the full Institutional/Instructor’s version price, and you will be asked to return the Individual Version DVD. Then, we will mail you a training manual, if available for that DVD, and you may show it to the training group or class as you wish.

Ordering Information

I submitted an order online. How do I know that it was received?

After you have successfully submitted an order online, you will get a confirmation email sent to the email address you provided us in your order form. If you think you submitted an order successfully but did not get this confirmation email, contact us at

My credit card keeps getting declined, but I know it works. What do I do?

First, check with your credit card company to make sure your card is working. Sometimes institutional credit cards (i.e., from a college or university) will have a block on them for use in internet orders. The principal of the card can call the credit card company and have this block removed. If this is not the case, try a different card if you have one. If all else fails you can email us at .

Do you accept purchase orders?

Yes, we accept purchase orders from American and Canadian colleges, universities, institutions and organizations. For other international purchase orders, we require payment in U.S. dollars in advance in the form of a check or money order. Of course, you can also place your order online with a credit card.

To submit a purchase order, please FAX it to us at (415) 668-0606. Or mail it to us at Psychotherapy.net 4625 California Street, San Francisco, CA 94118.

How long will it be until I receive my order in the mail after I have successfully submitted it online?

We typically ship orders twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays. For domestic orders, we ship first class and priority mail, which typically takes 2-3 business days.  For international orders we ship first class international mail. This typically takes 7 to 10 days. If you need to have an order “rushed” you can email us at or call at (800) 577-4762 and we’ll try to get it out to you a little sooner.

I placed my order several weeks ago and I have yet to receive it. What do I do?

First please check with your local post office and see if they are holding it. This is particularly common for international orders. If you still cannot track it down, please email us at with your order number or name on the order and we will track the order for you.

I want to add, change or delete items from my order. How do I do this?

If you would like to add an item, go ahead and place an additional separate order. If you want to change or delete an item, email us at or call us at (800) 577-4762 ASAP and we’ll take care of it for you.

I received my order but an item is missing or the wrong item was shipped. What do I do?

Email us at or call us at (800) 577-4762 and we’ll make it right.

Please visit our Order Info page for more information!

How do I purchase the CE courses for videos, articles and interviews?

Videos: When you purchase a video you may add CE Credits for that video by checking the box for CE Credits. If you have previously purchased a video, and now want the CE course, you may go to the video product page and order the CE course separately. Many CE video courses come with a downloadable Viewers Manual or related articles and interviews. It is expected that therapists watch the video, read the accompanying material before taking the brief exam to earn the CE credits.

Articles/Interviews: You simply go to the bottom of an article or interview and click on Add to Cart button to begin the process. Or, you can go to the CE homepage and check the box for the CE article or interview courses you want.

Can I order a CE course for a video without ordering the video?

The purchase of a CE courses for a video DOES NOT INCLUDE THE VIDEO. You must either purchase the video separately or already own it in order to complete the CE course for the video.

When I order a CE course, do I get anything sent to me in the mail?

You won’t get anything sent to you by mail if you purchase only a CE course. If you purchase a DVD with your CE course, only that will be shipped to you. All CE course materials are accessed or downloaded online. You will receive instructions via email on how to start this process after you make a CE purchase.

How do I obtain a Certificate of Completion for a CE Course?

You study the material (video, interview, article, or manual) at your own pace, and take the brief online test when you are ready. Once you pass the post-test with at least 70%, you will receive a Certificate of Completion via email. If you do not pass the test, you may retake it until you do pass for no additional charge. You can use the certificate to complete the CE paperwork required by your board. Psychotherapy.net does not submit any documentation to licensing boards.

Are videos, articles, interviews & manuals approved for Home Study and Online CE Credits?

Yes. Psychotherapy.net has gained approval for home study and online CE Credits for courses involving articles, interviews, manuals and videos. See CE main page for complete list of courses. Most associations and boards allow a certain amount of CE to be obtained online or in home study courses. All of our post-tests are taken by participants in online format.

How do I contact Psychotherapy.net with questions, comments, or concerns about CE courses?

For questions regarding CE courses, we can be contacted via email, at ce@psychotherapy.net, or by telephone: 800 577-4762 (U.S. only) or 415-956-2226. We will respond to inquiries within 72 hours via email or phone.

How do I get a refund for a CE course purchase?

Psychotherapy.net will provide a 100% refund if you are dissatisfied with the products or materials. A request for refund must be made (1) within 60 days of purchase of the course, and (2) prior to taking the course post-test. Refunds are not available once you have taken a CE test, whether or not you passed.

Can I give feedback on CE Courses?

We want to hear from you. After you complete the post-test we ask that you complete an online Course Evaluation. Please take a moment to share your thoughts with us. We count on your feedback to provide the best programs that we can.

Can I purchase the CE course for a friend or colleague?

You can make a purchase for someone else, but it must be ordered in THEIR name and using their email address.  Each order is associated with one email address and password, and that address/password is the user’s access to the online test.  You cannot share your online access with another person because the information printed on your Certificate of Completion is connected with your email address.  If you want to purchase CE for someone else, make a separate order and use their email address in the ordering process.  That way, they can access their test and receive a correct Certificate of Completion when the time comes.

Sound Filters

Why order a sound filter?

Sound filters are important in maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of your sessions with your clients. When placed outside an office door or in a hallway, they filter out the noise coming from behind closed doors by creating a white noise.

Who are our sound filters right for?

Sound filters are useful for anyone working in private practice, group practice, or at an agency with individuals, families or groups. Your clients will appreciate that your conversations are being kept completely private.

Our sound filters are built for American-type electrical outlets, so if ordering from outside the US make sure you have an appropriate adapter. Unfortunately, the shipping costs for these items are high so we cannot accept returns on them. Please make sure you have the right adapter BEFORE placing your order.

Where can you ship sound filters?

We typically ship sound filters to only our American customers because they are built for American-type electrical outlets. If you are outside the US and you are SURE you have the correct power adapter, we will fill your order. Please note that we cannot accept returns on sound filters because they are expensive to ship. So please make sure you have the right adapter before placing a sound filter order for international shipment.

About Psychotherapy.net

What’s the story with Psychotherapy.net?

Victor Yalom started producing videos featuring master psychotherapists in 1996 beginning with our video with James Bugental.  Randall Wyatt, PhD was added as a partner and Editor in Chief in the year 2000. The psychotherapy.net website was created in 2000 with the goals of focusing on the richness of psychotherapy, the desire to connect with and help clients that got us into the field in the first place, psychotherapy practice, the psychotherapist experience, applied theory and technique, wisdom and lives of world renowned master psychotherapists, and with a sense of seriousness, humility, and sense of play and creativity that such work calls for.  As you can see, the website has taken off in the last two years and is now a full content web magazine for psychotherapists. The website underwent a major overhaul in 2006 and we began offering CE credits. The layout has been improved to make finding things much eaiser, but we still strive to improve it everyday. Some of you might remember that we used to operate under the name of PsychotherapistResources.com before we changed to Psychotherapy.net.

Psychotherapy.net is committed to selling the best DVDs in the Psychotherapy, Counseling, Addictions and Psychology fields. We are proud of our selection and spend a good deal of time and money screening, developing and producing new videos that you will find relevant, useful, educational and enjoyable to watch.

We also stay committed to keeping our online magazine updated with new free high-quality content. Each quarter we offer new interviews with the therapists who are often featured in our DVDs, and articles with fresh content and good writing from psychotherapists around the globe.
