1. How do I retrieve the records?

Please find the appropriate product in the table found on the MARC Records main page and click on its link. This link will bring you to a page that corresponds to your collection. If you do not have a collection, please go to our Individual MARC Records page or New Releases Marc Records page. Once on the page that corresponds to your product(s), please download the records you require for your catalog.

We do provide single files of our new releases for those with Full and Exclusive collections. These sets include only our new releases. Please reference the release/update dates to determine which files you require. We will update the collections’ batch files at the same time so they do include the new releases.

Please Note: Every institution's psychotherapy.net video library has a customized URL to access their collection. Field 856 will need to be modified in each title's record, so your users can directly access the videos in your collection from your catalog. Instructions found below, FAQ #7

2. How do I know if I have a standard or customized (non standard) collection?

You have a customized collection if your institution does not have one of our standard collections.

Standard Essential Collection Title List (50 titles)
Standard Expanded Collection Title List (100 titles)
Social Work Collection Title list (41 titles)
Full Collection Title list  - Our Full Collection automatically grows as we add new titles; titles added on a regular basis.

3. How do I know what titles are in my institution's collection/video library?

To determine the titles in your collection:
  1. Login to your admin account,  and enter your username and your password.
  2. Click on the "Streams" tab. This will present you with a list of the videos in your account. Please check the expiration date to ensure it is an active stream.

If require confirmation of your collection type, or any assistance, please contact us at: customerservice@psychotherapy.net

4.  Where do I retrieve the MARC records for individual titles or customized (non standard) collections?

MARC records for individual titles or customized (non standard) collections can be found on the Individual Titles MARC records page. On the Individual Titles page, download the Single MARC Records Files zip file and the MARC Records Key. The records are organized by Video ID#. Please use the Key to determine which records correspond with your titles.

The MARC Records Key may also be found here.

5. Where do I find only the MARC records for new releases?

New releases may be found on the New Releases MARC Records page. Once on the New Releases MARC Records page, download the records that match the release date and/or titles you require. These are batch files and include all of the titles released on the date specified. The links are organized by date and title/Video ID#. The batch files are named by the release date. We update all batch files of our Full and Exclusive collections as new titles are released.

8. How do I modify the URL in each MARC record’s Field 856?

Because every institution accesses their video library by a customized URL provided by Psychotherapy.net, or have modified that URL to meet their proxy requirements, you will need to add the appropriate URL to each video's MARC record for your institution.

To facilitate your find/replace process, we have included the following in every record contains:

1. This URL: https://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/xxx
2. The required and corresponding path (/video), parameter (vid) and value of the parameter for every video in our collection.
For example:
For the MARC Record with video ID = "223", you will find the following URL in field 856:
https://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/xxx/video?vid=223

To add the correct URL to your video's MARC records, please follow the instructions below:
A. If your institution is using username/password authentication to access your video library, simply:

1. Download the MARC Records Key to match the records (sorted by Video ID) to your video titles.
2. Download the files that match your video titles and/or collection.
3. Modify field 856 for your videos' records. Replace the "xxx" with the institution ID that was provided at set up.

For example:
Group University was given the following URL at setup: https://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/group.
In this case, their institution ID = group, so they will change the "xxx" to "group", and the correct URL for video #223's MARC Record file for their video library will be as follows:

https://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/group/video?vid=223

Please note:

All video IDs have 3 digits. If the ID# for the video only contains 1 or 2 digits, such as "3" or "40", you will need to add two zeros "00" or a zero "0" before the number, so it contains 3 digits.

For example:

Video ID# = 3, change to 003
Video ID# = 40, change to 040

The URL will look like this:

https://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/institution ID/video?vid=003
https://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/institution ID/video?vid=040

B. If your institution is using proxy server authentication to access your video library, simply:

1. Download the MARC Records Key to match the records (sorted by Video ID) to your video titles.
2. Download the files that match your video titles and/or collection.
3. Modify field 856 for your videos' records. Replace the "xxx" with the institution ID provided at set up.
4. Add your proxy prefix to the URL based on your proxy requirements.

9. How do I update URLs for titles via Proquest/Ex Libris ALMA or 360?

ALMA:

To update URLs for titles/portfolios in bulk; please see the documentation here for the portfolio loader:

https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/Electronic_Resource_Management/030_Working_with_Local_Electronic_Resources/015Managing_Electronic_Resources#Portfolio_Loader

The job itself needs to be initiated manually, however the system handles updating all the URLs per a file uploaded through the job.

If you have any questions, please contact ProQuest and Ex Libris Support Team.

360:

To add your unique URLs globally for a database use the Holding URL Replacement page where you can specify changes that you want to apply to title-level URLs for a specified database. You can navigate to this page from the Client Center home under Management Tools, and select the Holding URL Replacement link.

Here, you'll see a list of resources that have already been configured to create unique title-level URLs for subscribed databases. You can add, edit existing, or remove any that you no longer need. There is a knowledge center article that contains more details and instructions on using this feature.

10. How do I update URLs for titles via EBSCO and WorldShare Collection Manager?

EBSCO - please contact EBSCO support: http://support.ebscohost.com/contact/askus.php

WorldShare Collection Manager:

https://help.oclc.org/Metadata_Services/WorldShare_Collection_Manager/Knowledge_base_collections/Configure_institution_settings/Configure_institution_settings_for_knowledge_base_collections

11. What is my Institution ID?

To locate your institution ID, please view the video library URL you were given at initial set up.
All video library URLs (before they have been modified with a proxy prefix) will be formatted like this:

https://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/XXX

The Institution ID will always be located after "stream/" and appear in the same position as "XXX"
as found in the above URL.

As a result, "XXX" (without quotes) = the Institution ID.

Here is another example:
Group University was given the following URL at setup:
https://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/group.
In this case, their Institution ID = group
