1. How do I retrieve the records?

Please find the appropriate product in the table found on the MARC Records main page and click on its link. This link will bring you to a page that corresponds to your collection. If you do not have a collection, please go to our Individual MARC Records page or New Releases Marc Records page. Once on the page that corresponds to your product(s), please download the records you require for your catalog.

We do provide single files of our new releases for those with Full and Exclusive collections. These sets include only our new releases. Please reference the release/update dates to determine which files you require. We will update the collections’ batch files at the same time so they do include the new releases.

Please Note: Every institution's psychotherapy.net video library has a customized URL to access their collection. Field 856 will need to be modified in each title's record, so your users can directly access the videos in your collection from your catalog. Instructions found below, FAQ #7

2. How do I know if I have a standard or customized collection?

You have a customized collection if your institution does not have one of our standard collections.

 Standard Essential Collection Title List
 Standard Expanded Collection Title List

3. How do I know what titles are in my institution's collection/video library?

To determine the titles in your collection:
  1. Login to your admin account,  and enter your username and your password.
  2. Click on the "Streams" tab. This will present you with a list of the videos in your account. Please check the expiration date to ensure it is an active stream.

If require confirmation of your collection type, or any assistance, please contact us at: customerservice@psychotherapy.net

4.  Where do I retrieve the MARC records for individual titles or a non-standard sized (not 50 or 100 titles) customized collection?

MARC records for individual titles or for non-standard sized customized collections can be found on the Single Titles MARC records page. Once the Individual Titles page, download the Single MARC Records Files zip file and the MARC Records Key. The records are organized by Video ID#. Please use the Key to determine which records correspond with your titles.

5. Where do I find only the MARC records for new releases?

New releases may be found on the New Releases MARC Records page. Once on the New Releases MARC Records page, download the records that match the release date and/or titles you require. These are batch files and include all of the titles released on the date specified. The links are organized by date and title/Video ID#. The batch files are named by the release date. We update all batch files of our Full and Exclusive collections as new titles are released.

6. Do we offer MARC records via EBSCO, OCLC or SkyRiver?

Yes, our records are available via OCLC WorldCat, WorldShare Collection Manager, SkyRiver and EBSCO EDS and HLM.

We will update our files with ESBCO, OCLC and SkyRiver quarterly (January, April, July and October). Please follow the procedures offered by your cataloging service provider to gain access to the MARC records and updates that correspond to our titles and collections.

WorldShare Collection Manager member may access records for our Full, Exclusive and Social Work Collections. If you have a customized Essential (50 titles) or Expanded (100 titles) Collection, a custom-sized collection, or single titles, you may customize the Full Collection to show only your specific holdings.

If you are a cataloging member of OCLC and properly configured for use of the WorldCat knowledge base, your MARC records can be setup for automated delivery and updates. This service delivers your MARC records containing your specific subscriber keys in 856 field.

If you are a EBSCO member, our standard Full, Exclusive and Social Work Collections are available via HLM. If you have an Essential (50 titles) or Expanded (100 titles) Collection, a custom-sized collection, or single titles, you may customize the Full Collection to only have specific titles show in their holdings. Alternately, you may also create custom collections in their specific HLM account. For more information about how to locate specific content via EBSCO EDS, please click here.

SkyRiver offers access to single records.

7. How do I modify the URL in each MARC record’s Field 856?

Because every institution accesses their video library by a customized URL provided by Psychotherapy.net, or have modified that URL to meet their proxy requirements, you will need to add the appropriate URL to each video's MARC record for your institution.

To facilitate your find/replace process, in every record, we have included:

  1. This URL in every MARC record: http://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/xxx
  2. The necessary and corresponding path (/video), parameter (vid) and value of the parameter for every video in our collection.

For example, for the MARC Record with video ID = "223", you will find the following URL in field 856: http://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/xxx/video?vid=223

To add the correct URL to your video's MARC records, please follow the instructions below:

1. If your institution is using username/password authentication to access your video library, simply:

  1. Download the MARC Records Key to match the records (sorted by Video ID) to your video titles.
  2. Download the files that match your video titles and/or collection.
  3. Modify field 856 for your videos' records. Replace the "xxx" with the institution ID that was provided at set up.

For example:
Group University was given the following URL at setup: http://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/group.
This account will change the  "xxx" to "group".
As a result, the
correct URL for video #223's MARC Record file will be: http://www.psychotherapy.net/stream/group/video?vid=223

2. If your institution is using proxy server authentication to access your video library, simply:

  1. Download the MARC Records Key to match the records (sorted by Video ID) to your video titles.
  2. Download the files that match your video titles and/or collection.
  3. Modify field 856 for your videos' records. Replace the "xxx" with the institution ID provided at set up.
  4. Add your proxy prefix to the URL in its correct position.
