VHS CLOSEOUT SALE!

We have a limited supply of these videos, available only in VHS format, which feature therapy sessions with actual patients rich with subtle interactions that culminate in a shared experience for both the patient and consultant. These powerful learning tools on working with patients with life-threatening illnesses are a must for psychotherapists, social workers, medical professionals and mental health professionals alike.

"These outstanding videos are invaluable aids in the teaching of psychotherapy. Dr. Viederman demonstrates just how he approaches and explains patient suffering from loss and from physical illness. The major benefit is the opportunity that Viederman offers to see the patient in different ways and with different theories."

Arnold Goldberg, MD, LTD, Professor of Psychiatry, Rush Medical College, Training and Supervising Analyst, Institute for Psychoanalysis, Chicago

Life Passage in the Face of Death, VOl 1Volume 1: A Brief Psychotherapy

The compelling process of a brief psychotherapy is captured in this revealing video, presenting an actual patient who seeks help in coping with the care and anticipated loss of her terminally ill husband. This video illustrates the effect and evolution of specific interventions, focusing on the narrative structure of the patient's life as a construct that gives meaning to the current crisis situation. The video documents a wide array of therapeutic interventions and their impact in just three weekly sessions--with a unique follow-up session eight months after her husband's death.

Life Passage in the Face of Death, vol 2Volume II: Psychological Engagement of the Physically Ill Patient

This remarkable video, featuring edited interviews of five actual patientsfacing cancer at different stages of the illness, illustrates the principles and techniques of psychological engagement. The use of a variety of supportive and interpretive techniques engages the patients psychologically and establishes a bond as they feel understood and thereby recognized. These interviews illustrate how the therapist searches for and communicates meaning at a moment in crisis, and how Dr. Viederman tailors his own responses to meet the unique needs of each patient. What emerges vividly is the diversity of responses and experiences of these patients, each met by a different therapeutic response by the therapist.
