Mike Williams is a registered member of the NZ Association of Counsellors (NZAC) and is a member of the Assocation's Ethics Committee. He holds a M.Ed hons from the University of Waikato. Mike first used the Undercover Anti Bullying approach over 20 years ago while he was a high school counsellor in Auckland, New Zealand. He met John Winslade while completing his Masters degree and John encouraged him to write about it. They continued to develop the approach and it was included in their book, Safe and Peaceful Schools: Managing Conflict and Eliminating Violence (Corwin,2012). Mike was nominated for NZer of the Year by the NZ Herald and their work gained international recognition. Mike ran over 50 successful Under Cover Anti Bullying Teams during his working life and their book has been translated into Japanese and Chinese. The inspiration for this approach came from Narrative Therapy and Narrative Conflict resolution theory and continues to evolve through practitioners in Japan, California and Denmark and throughout New Zealand.
