Overview

Watch Arnold Lazarus masterfully demonstrate Multimodal Therapy in an actual therapy session in this 3-part video. What a treat to see this innovative therapist in action!

Arnold Lazarus considers himself a technique collector. His multimodal approach is redefining eclecticism, as he finds what works best for a client and uses strategies, techniques and interventions from various modalities to tailor the therapy to that person’s needs. In this video, Lazarus develops his approach by trial and error: he tries different techniques, watches his client’s reactions, and ultimately hones in on the client’s constant self-criticism, providing tools to address it. Hosts Jon Carlson and Diane Kjos introduce Dr. Lazarus and facilitate an enlightening discussion, highlighting Lazarus’ strategies to break through the client’s resistance.
