Exploring Narradrama

This video offers an introduction to the tools and techniques of Narradrama, a therapeutic approach that combines narrative therapy, drama therapy and creative arts.
Set in a community group home in South Central Los Angeles, this video shows actual footage of a team of narradrama therapists working with a multicultural group of both staff and teens for a series of extended meetings. Watch as the severe disconnection between residents and staff dissolves, mutual respect and connections build, and each side uncovers their strengths and values.

This video offers an introduction to the tools and techniques of Narradrama, a new therapeutic approach and alternative to traditional talk therapy. Narradrama is an integration of narrative therapy and drama therapy that incorporates creative arts and experiential activities.

Pamela Dunne is professor of Theatre Arts and Dance at California State University, Los Angeles and is director of the Drama Therapy Institute of Los Angeles . She conducts workshops and training programs nationally and internationally in the areas drama therapy and narradrama, is past President of the US National Association for Drama Therapy, and operates a private practice in Los Angeles. She is the author of several books including The Narrative Therapist and the Arts and Narradrama: Integrating Drama Therapy, Narrative, and the Creative Arts.
