Event Details

This training explores how historical, cultural, and systemic factors shape the mental health experiences of Black women and influence the psychotherapy process. Drawing on research, clinical literature, and the presenter’s experience as a psychologist and researcher, participants will examine how context informs both case conceptualization and intervention. The session moves beyond general cultural competence to focus on clinically relevant, research-informed strategies for working effectively with Black women in therapy. Participants will learn how to integrate historical awareness into assessment, avoid common clinical misattunements, and apply culturally responsive interventions that support engagement, trust, and meaningful therapeutic outcomes.
