Overview

In Volume 2, Dr. Sarah Bowen begins with an overview of her research and the three primary foundations of MBRP. Based on the idea that people tend to relapse when they’re feeling something they don’t want to feel, the method offers a well-rounded set of skills designed to support clients’ ability to identify, observe, and diffuse challenging internal states. From there, you’ll watch Ashwood facilitate key sections of an eight-week MBRP course. You’ll witness the practices of “urge surfing,” the “mountain meditation,” and the “SOBER breathing space,” among others, and you’ll see multiple demonstrations of how to lead group inquiry around each activity. Ashwood also provides useful commentary throughout, describing his goals and noting places where practitioners can make the methods their own.

What you'll learn

  • Understand the theoretical underpinnings of MBRP.
  • Recite the core practices of mind-body clinical work.
  • Discover key skills for leading a mindfulness-based group inquiry.
