Overview

Sesame works, often nonverbally, through the applied use of myth/fairy tale enactment, playful spontaneity, the use of touch in therapy – all as tools for unconscious processes where transformation and healing occurs. The Sesame Approach is underpinned by Jungian psychology which values the imagining psyche as the integral source of a therapeutic process.

The film includes scenes from an interview with Marian Billy Lindkvist about how Sesame started and how she developed the Sesame way of working. It also gives brief introductory teaching around the components of the Sesame approach brought by Mary Smail, Director, Sesame Institute from 1996 to 2015; Aleka Loutsis, MA, Drama and Movement Therapy Lecturer (Laban); Royal Central school of Speech and Drama UK; and Richard Hougham, Course Leader, MA, Drama and Movement Therapy, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
