Don Clark

Don Clark, PhD is a psychologist most well-known for his book, Loving Someone Gay as well as for his activist work in the world of psychology. One of the first psychologists to publicly come out as a gay man, he developed a psychotherapy practice devoted to helping gay people and their friends and families. Don Emmerich, LCSW, is a Denver-based psychodynamic psychotherapist and writer. He began his career as an elementary and middle school social worker and now provides individual psychotherapy to adults. 

Donald Meichenbaum

Donald Meichenbaum, PhD is Distinguished Professor Emeritus from the University of Waterloo in Ontario Canada from which he took early retirement 28 years ago. Since that time, he has been Research Director of the Melissa Institute for Violence Prevention in Miami. He is one of the founders of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and in a survey of clinicians, he was voted “One of the ten most influential psychotherapists of the 20th century.” Dr. Meichenbaum has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Clinical Division of the American Psychological Association and was Honorary President of the Canadian Psychological Association. He has presented in all 50 U.S states and internationally and he has published extensively. His latest book is entitled Treating Individuals with Addictive Disorders.

He has placed his book Roadmap to Resilience on the Internet for FREE. The book has been downloaded by 45, 000 + visitors from 138 countries worldwide. He released a free foundational article on treating individuals with prolonged and complicated grief and traumatic bereavement. Recently released is the first part of his “Legacy Course,” all proceeds from which will benefit the Melissa Institute. Dr. Meichenbaum has just celebrated his 83rd birthday. He has four children and seven grandchildren.

Donna C. Moss, MA, LCSW-R, is an adolescent therapist who writes about technology and teens as well as other issues in mental health. Doug Foresta, LICSW

Doug Foresta, LICSW is a therapist who is interested in the healing power of creativity and imagination. He is the producer and host of the show "Creating Change," which explores the healing power of creativity. He has hosted several "Imagination Conversations," a project of the Lincoln Center Institute. Doug works in private practice in Massachusetts, where he specializes in working with people stuck in compulsive worry, sadness and addictive behaviors. A produced playwright, he has taught theatre and playwriting for over a decade, and his plays have been produced in New York and Massachusetts. He is also an adjunct teacher at Springfield College.

Dr. Stanton Peele & Dolores Cloward

Dr. Stanton Peele is a psychologist who has pioneered, among other things, the idea that addiction occurs with a range of experiences and recognition of natural *recovery from addiction. He developed the Life Process Program for addiction and has authored many books since the 1975 publication of Love and Addiction (co-authored by Archie Brodsky). His book Outgrowing Addiction: With Common Sense Instead of “Disease” Therapy (with Zach Rhoads) will be published by Upper Access Press in May 2019.


Dolores Cloward is a coach and a coordinator with Dr. Stanton Peele's online Life Process Program and has a coaching practice in Cincinnati. She was the developer of SMART Recovery’s® online community and services and manager of SMART’s court outreach and special events programs. She hosted SMART’s podcasts, which was rated best in addiction and on which Dr. Peele has appeared numerous times.
